"When architects write about their work, they usually suppress any sign of conflict and try to appear as easy-going as your friendly bank manager. The reverse is true of Le Corbusier. He would actually do everything to erode your confidence and increase conflict, from presenting his plans in an unconventional way to insulting his client. The logic behind this was twofold. It would disqualify at an early stage all clients who were unwilling to accept his genius and, more importantly, allow him to present conflict as the essential quality to creative life."
(Jencks C 1973 "LC and the Tragic View ...")
